Envisioned as a state-of-the-art setting for student life, the new AMR 1 Residence Hall will become a compelling and inviting place for the Johns Hopkins community. The project replaces the existing 1920’s-era Alumni Memorial Residence I (AMR I) with an enlarged residence hall and new dining facility intended to replace the existing Hopkins Cafe. Its prominent location will enhance a new core of student life encircling the campus’ main quad known as “The Beach.” The new residence hall will provide 200 additional beds and integrate expanded social spaces to support student life activities. The future dining facility will be the largest on the Homewood Campus, creating a dynamic culinary hub to bring students together and activate its important connection to Charles Street.
